47.2.3 Employees may choose to be represented by <strong>the</strong>ir nominated representative in relation to<br />

<strong>the</strong> development <strong>and</strong> implementation <strong>of</strong> working arrangements under this clause.<br />

47.2.4 The Union will be consulted on proposed arrangements prior to <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Commissioner.<br />

Division 3 – Remote Locality Employment Conditions<br />

48. Electricity Subsidy for Employees in Remote Localities<br />

48.1 An electricity subsidy will apply to Employees stationed in remote localities as follows:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

An Employee residing in a dwelling fitted with a dedicated electricity metering device,<br />

<strong>and</strong> who is required to meet <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> any charges associated with <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong><br />

electricity to that dwelling, is entitled to an electricity subsidy in accordance with <strong>the</strong><br />

rates specified below, subject to <strong>the</strong> relevant category <strong>of</strong> remoteness <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Employee’s eligibility for <strong>the</strong> dependent / after hours rate.<br />

The electricity subsidy for <strong>the</strong> dependent/after-hours rate is payable only where <strong>the</strong><br />

Employee:<br />

i. has recognised dependents, being an Employee’s spouse or defacto spouse,<br />

or children under <strong>the</strong> age <strong>of</strong> 18, who:<br />

A. reside with <strong>the</strong> Employee;<br />

B. are not eligible for assistance with electricity costs from any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

source; <strong>and</strong><br />

C. are not in receipt <strong>of</strong> income exceeding <strong>the</strong> NTPS weekly minimum<br />

adult wage as determined by <strong>the</strong> Commissioner; or<br />

ii.<br />

is a shift worker, or regularly required to be available for after-hours duty<br />

such as call outs, <strong>the</strong> frequency <strong>of</strong> which are such that <strong>the</strong> Employee is<br />

regularly required to seek rest during daylight hours.<br />

The electricity subsidy will be paid fortnightly in addition to salary <strong>and</strong> will count as<br />

salary for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> taxation <strong>and</strong> superannuation.<br />

The electricity subsidy will not be paid during periods <strong>of</strong> leave without pay which do not<br />

count as service.<br />

The electricity subsidy will be paid to part-time Employees on a pro-rata basis.<br />

Only one subsidy is payable per dwelling.<br />
