Schedule 2 Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Territory Public Sector (General Conditions <strong>of</strong><br />

Service) Provisions<br />

1. Grievance <strong>and</strong> Dispute Resolution Training<br />

1.1 Leave <strong>of</strong> absence will be granted to an Employee to attend short training courses or<br />

seminars on <strong>the</strong> following conditions:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

that Agency operating requirements permit <strong>the</strong> grant <strong>of</strong> leave; <strong>and</strong><br />

that <strong>the</strong> scope, content <strong>and</strong> level <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> short course or seminar are directed to a better<br />

underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> grievance h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>and</strong> dispute resolution.<br />

1.2 Leave granted under 1.1 will be with full pay at ordinary time, excluding shift, penalty or<br />

overtime payments, <strong>and</strong> will count as service for all purposes.<br />

2. Increments<br />

2.1 An Employee will be entitled to progress one pay point within <strong>the</strong> pay scale for <strong>the</strong><br />

Employee’s classification after twelve months continuous service, or after twelve months<br />

broken service in <strong>the</strong> preceding 24 months, at a particular pay point.<br />

2.2 An Employee under 21 years <strong>of</strong> age in a classification in which age rates are payable will<br />

progress in accordance with <strong>the</strong> age rates specified, unless <strong>the</strong> Employee has complied with<br />

a condition <strong>of</strong> advancement determined by <strong>the</strong> Commissioner.<br />

2.3 An Employee who is promoted will have included for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> calculating <strong>the</strong><br />

increment date any previous period during which <strong>the</strong> Employee performed higher duties at<br />

<strong>the</strong> new classification level or a higher classification.<br />

3. Allowances<br />

3.1 Accident allowance<br />

(a)<br />

An Employee will be paid an allowance equivalent to <strong>the</strong>ir normal time salary during a<br />

period <strong>of</strong> absence necessitated by physical injury sustained:<br />

i. because <strong>of</strong> an act or omission <strong>of</strong> an Employee (o<strong>the</strong>r than <strong>the</strong> Employee<br />

injured) or a person not employed but performing on behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>rn<br />

Territory government duties similar to those <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Employee injured; or<br />

ii.<br />

iii.<br />

iv.<br />

as a result <strong>of</strong> a defect in material or appliances; or<br />

in protecting government property from loss or damage while on duty; or<br />

while travelling between <strong>the</strong>ir place <strong>of</strong> residence <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir place <strong>of</strong> work; or<br />
