Reviewed the National Police Service<br />

Charter, promotion policy and training<br />

courses for the Police College to ensure that<br />

the Bill of Rights and the gender equality<br />

provisions are reflected<br />

Reviewed and distributed 45,000 copies of<br />

the Police Service Code of Conduct to all<br />

officers<br />

Operationalised the National Police Service<br />

Act and the Independent Police Oversight<br />

Authority<br />

Mainstreamed Article 244 (d) and the Bill of<br />

Rights into the new curriculum of recruits.<br />

Extended the training period for recruits<br />

and cadets to 6 months and 21 months<br />

respectively<br />

Delinked from the ODPP through the<br />

second-ment of police prosecutors<br />

Drafted Policies in line with the Articles 244<br />

Partner with the NCAJ to accelerate<br />

the establishment of Criminal Justice<br />

Complexes. <strong>The</strong> geographical proximity<br />

of the police, prosecutions, magistrates’<br />

courts & remand facilities will significantly<br />

reduce the transactional costs of<br />

delivering justice and will also not affect<br />

the independence of the institutions<br />

NCAJ should accelerate the<br />

implementation of sector wide resource<br />

allocation strategies<br />

Establish a fund to facilitate the<br />

payment for medical examination<br />

fees for victims of crime and the<br />

professional examinations and per diem<br />

for costs incurred in travelling to present<br />

Recruit Police doctors in every station-<br />

Overhaul the operations of all Police<br />

Stations by bolstering human resource<br />

capacity to include legal officers in all<br />

stations; refurbish police station buildings<br />

and set up forensic laboratories for the<br />

collection, preservation & analysis of<br />

preliminary evidence
