• an increase in emissions attributable <strong>to</strong> cogeneration, resulting from the company’s decision <strong>to</strong><br />

invest more in this technology, with financial and environmental benefits. The increase is in any case<br />

offset by the lower amount of power purchased from the grid, which overall has led <strong>to</strong> a positive<br />

balance being achieved in terms of emissions;<br />

• reduction of emissions from diesel electricity genera<strong>to</strong>rs in situations where the electricity<br />

distribution network is unavailable;<br />

• reduction of emissions resulting from electricity consumption;<br />

• reduction of emissions from business air travel by employees due <strong>to</strong> a reduction in the number of<br />

trips, resulting in particular from the greater use of video-conferencing.<br />

Purchases of paper for office and commercial use (telephone bills) continue <strong>to</strong> be directed at product<br />

types that meet the highest environmental standards based on the responsible management of forests<br />

according <strong>to</strong> the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC, see fsc.org) requirements.<br />

With regard <strong>to</strong> the working environment, consumption has been rationalised by the awareness-building<br />

work on rationalising use and by the printing on demand project which provides for the use of shared<br />

high performance printers.<br />

As regards paper purchased for commercial use, activities continued for the purpose of achieving an<br />

overall reduction in consumption, particularly by promoting the use of electronic invoices and<br />

statements among cus<strong>to</strong>mers. This allowed over 92 <strong>to</strong>nnes of paper <strong>to</strong> be saved, as well as reducing the<br />

production of CO2 associated with delivery of the packages.<br />
