assignment when there was a knock on the door.<br />
“Excuse me, Mor<strong>to</strong>n,” said Virginia Gardiner,<br />
“but Miss Butcher needs you repair <strong>to</strong> the library.<br />
Apparently you are <strong>to</strong> be beaten on Red House<br />
Business. She said that you need <strong>to</strong> cut along<br />
sharpish.”<br />
Deborah scowled darkly at the grubby. Virginia<br />
<strong>to</strong>ok a wary step backwards. “I’m sorry, Mor<strong>to</strong>n,” she<br />
said hurriedly <strong>and</strong> beat a hasty retreat.<br />
Dismally Deborah went <strong>to</strong> the closet <strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong>ok<br />
down her blazer from a clothes-hanger. She pulled it<br />
on <strong>and</strong> fastened the <strong>to</strong>p but<strong>to</strong>n before heading out of<br />
