awarding bogus whops it had a significant downside.<br />
An unsuccessful appeal resulted in a second six of the<br />
best being delivered twenty-four hours later.<br />
Ms Whar<strong>to</strong>n who served as the Mistress of the<br />
Red House was no<strong>to</strong>rious for her strict <strong>and</strong> often<br />
brutal interpretation of the House Pro<strong>to</strong>cols. Even if<br />
Debs was able <strong>to</strong> persuade the prefects on the<br />
Council of the Red House that it was just an<br />
unfortunate oversight the Mistress of the House<br />
would still have <strong>to</strong> sanction the reprieve. From painful<br />
experience she knew that in all probability the Wart<br />
would interpret her failure <strong>to</strong> check the notice board<br />
as willful negligence or some such nonsense.<br />
Unappealing as six might be, one six was certainly<br />
preferable <strong>to</strong> two sixes.<br />
