6 Conclusions
In the course of this paper, it has been shown that Batch Mode is an effective tool
for use with multiple CONDUIT problems. Batch Mode provides the user with the
capability of creating a large number of CONDUIT problems for optimization or
evaluation. These problems can then be optimized or evaluated without intervention by
the user. Batch Mode also provides the capability to analyze the results of a large
number of optimized or evaluated cases in an efficient manner. It offers HQ Window
thumbprint plots to check for robustness, along with gain schedule plots against user
defined variables. The Sensitivity Tools of CONDUIT were automated for use with
Batch Mode, giving the Run Mode the ability to automatically freeze insensitive or
correlated parameters. Finally, it was shown that the simple logic of the correlation
freezing was sufficient for the purposes of freezing correlated parameters.
The optimization of the SH-2G demonstrated many of the features and
capabilities of Batch Mode. First, it demonstrated the ease by which a Batch Mode
problem could be created, optimized, and evaluated. The results of these cases were then
used to show that smooth gain schedules could be obtained through the use of Batch
Mode. Finally, the use of thumbprint plots to examine the robustness of a system were
also shown to be effective.
