The Insert Family GUI, on the left in Figure 22, consists simply of a box to enter the new family name. Clicking on OK will add the family to the list of current families. On the right hand side of the figure is the Insert Cases GUI, which is used to create new cases. The user may select which family to insert the cases and the number of cases to add. In addition to this, the user may choose to insert these new cases using the default values, or the current settings of another case. If the settings of another case are to be copied, all parameters but the case number are copied. This row of buttons lists all possible commands of the current Mode. The buttons on the left half are used to select the current “window”. In the same way as the Batch Mode GUI is split into three modes, 39
Setup, Run, and Analysis, so are the each of these modes split up into sub-sections. These sub-sections are referred to as “windows”. The details of the windows will be left to later discussion, but for now, they should be thought of as being views of different sets of data, that appear in the Display Area of the Main Window. The window selection buttons are visible at all times within their respective modes, and change when the mode is switched. On the right half of the Button Toolbar are buttons, sliders, or text specific to the current window. These objects remain visible only in their respective windows. They provide functionality to the current window. The two final objects of the Batch GUI are located at the bottom of the Batch Mode window. On the left hand side are the Mode Buttons. Clicking on the buttons will switch Batch Mode into the respective modes. On the bottom right of the Batch Mode GUI is the Status Window. This window shows the current status of Batch Mode. When Batch Mode is writing the Batch Problem to file, running the Batch Problem, or when any other time consuming process is running, the current status of the process is detailed in this window. 2.2.5 Setup Mode GUI As mentioned earlier, the intent of Setup Mode was to allow the user to modify any parameter that could be modified within CONDUIT, constraining the functionality limitations to only those variations deemed unnecessary in a multi-problem CONDUIT analysis. In creating this list of parameters to vary, it was quickly determined that multiple windows had to be used to organize all parameters. Thus, five windows were conceptualized for Setup Mode: 40
