The Delhi festival was just as large and successful<br />

as the Bombay one. Special guests included<br />

the mayor of New Delhi, the Minister of Defense, and<br />

the Canadian High Commissioner. We monks <strong>for</strong>med<br />

a circle around Swamiji and used our staffs as a barricade<br />

to keep the throngs of people seeking blessings<br />

from crushing or tripping him as he walked from his<br />

car to the stage, since many people tried to touch his<br />

feet as he walked by.<br />

The owner of a vacant Sanskrit school in<br />

Vrindaban offered Swamiji the use of it. It contained a<br />

treadle operated letterpress. Swamiji wanted me to<br />

take charge of it and look into starting a Hindi edition<br />

of Back to Godhead magazine using the press. I was<br />

glad to get permission to live in Vrindaban again. I<br />

was joined by Australian and Indian disciples.<br />

It was a stucco building. The front door opened<br />

on a long narrow room. Then there was a courtyard<br />

with two rooms and a veranda on one side and one<br />

large room containing the press on the other side.<br />

These rooms only had bamboo slat lattice work <strong>for</strong><br />

walls on the courtyard side. Sometimes, while we<br />

were out, monkeys broke in and ransacked the place.<br />

Sometimes, when we ate on the veranda, monkeys<br />

jumped from the courtyard walls and stole food from<br />

our plates. There was a small lockable room in the<br />

back that served as a kitchen. It opened on another<br />
