me, later started Spiritual Sky Incense by dipping<br />

punks in diluted essential oils and packaging them.<br />

They were toxic and made devotees who were around<br />

large stocks of incense sick from the fumes.<br />

I flew to New York and went to the temple at<br />

26 Second Avenue, on the Lower East Side, where I<br />

met devotees whom I heard about and/or corresponded<br />

with. I slept on the carpeted floor of the<br />

storefront temple with most of the male devotees. The<br />

next day, I visited Krishna Devi's Jewish parents, and<br />

they received me well.<br />

When I went to my parents’ house in Lake<br />

Ronkonkoma, Long Island, my mother was glad to<br />

see me, but my father didn't want me to spend the<br />

night. We never got along well. My mother told him<br />

she would leave with me if I couldn't stay. He gave in<br />

and let me spend the night.<br />

I explained that Krishna is God and my beliefs<br />

weren’t different in essence from what Christ taught.<br />

"If Christ sits at the right hand of God, who is God?<br />

What does God look like? He's Krishna." My fundamentalist<br />

Christian father couldn’t accept this.<br />
