The temple booked a U.S. Air flight that<br />

stopped in L.A. and Baltimore. I insisted on spending<br />

the night in Baltimore be<strong>for</strong>e continuing to Pittsburg<br />

by Greyhound and car to New Vrindaban.<br />

I arrived in Baltimore early in the morning after<br />

a long night flight. Two devotees met me at the<br />

airport in a van. We picked up my backpack at the<br />

baggage claim after a long wait. At the temple, a large<br />

brick house with spacious fenced yard, I was given a<br />

room and food. After a nap, I wandered around and<br />

met some devotees. Bina, the woman I lived with in<br />

Maui, was there. We had a pleasant talk on the front<br />

porch.<br />

The next morning, they drove me to the Greyhound<br />

station <strong>for</strong> my journey to Pittsburg, which took<br />

several hours. I was met at the bus station and taken<br />

to the temple, a three story row house. I was given<br />

lunch, and driven to New Vrindaban a couple of<br />

hours later.<br />

Arriving there in the evening, I was taken to<br />

see Bhaktipad, <strong>for</strong>merly Kirtananda Swami, the guru<br />

of the community. I explained how Prabhupad appeared<br />

in dream and told me to be with my god<br />

brothers.<br />

"So what do you want to do?"<br />

"I want to preach in schools and colleges."<br />

"<strong>An</strong>yone who preaches in my zone must have<br />

a shaved head."<br />

"I'll do what I have to."<br />

<strong>Radha</strong>nath was assigned as my assistant and<br />

watchdog. I spent a few days in New Vrindaban. I<br />
