I met my old friend Dan Clark (Damodar) who<br />

was the president of the Washington, D.C. temple. He<br />

invited me to join the New Age Caucus. They were<br />

looking <strong>for</strong> a state networker. He worked there with<br />

Dan Maziarz (Dharmadyaksha), the director. We<br />

talked, and I accepted the job. I rented a small apartment<br />

with an ocean and mountain view a couple of<br />

blocks from the beach in Santa Monica. I loaded my<br />

belongings into my Chevy Caprice and moved there<br />

in late 1978.<br />

The New Age Caucus was a great little organization<br />

that promoted green politics. Some of the main<br />

thinkers we worked with included Mark Satin, New<br />

Age Politics; Theodore Roszak, Person Planet; Hazel<br />

Henderson, Creating Alternative Futures; John Vasconcellos,<br />

author and state legislator.<br />

Susanne Taylor, a supporter, held great parties<br />

at her Hollywood hills home that we attended with<br />

Timothy Leary. I knew John Fahey who did a benefit<br />

<strong>for</strong> us. I went to Richie Havens hotel room and<br />

smoked with him and his band after a concert at a holistic<br />

conference where we had an exhibit. I went to<br />

Laura Huxley’s home and spoke with her about seniors<br />

doing child care <strong>for</strong> young couples so they could<br />

have a break while the seniors and children benefit by<br />

the association. Then we held a press conference at<br />

the L.A. Press Club with her and actress Susan <strong>An</strong>spach.<br />
