Rubbing his head, Swamiji replied, "Because
now you are following me, but that is all right. You
are still young and there is time. At least shave your
beard and cut your hair like a gentleman."
Then he explained various dietary rules such
as not eating meat, fish, eggs, or onions. I asked,
"Why not onions?"
"In the Puranas, it is said that a meat eater once
in its place. Onions come from cows, so we don't eat
them."
She was divorced from Richard. Swamiji said we
needed to marry or live separately. I had promised
Carolyn I would stay with her the rest of my life and
asked what she wanted to do. We decided to get married.
Mukunda, the temple secretary said, "We'll let you
work with us, but we won't be your friends."
"We didn't come here to join your social club
but to take a spiritual master." I replied.
The next morning, I shaved my beard and cut
my hair so it was short in the front and long in back.
