Manual 1:AN EDUCATOR’S GUIDE“Learning by doing” is likely to be more effective than “learning by being told”. Thecollective self-reliance of participants will be encouraged by this training method. Alsothe skills they will be using as union activists or members will be developed at the sametime. As a result, it is to be expected that the confidence participants feel in themselveswill be markedly increased by the end of their training course.ILO: Your <strong>Health</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> at Work 2000Checklist for educators – Planning <strong>and</strong> preparation Carefully read over each Manual/section/sub-section <strong>and</strong> each activity beforeyou use it in your course Use the different participatory methods <strong>and</strong> try to come up with your ownparticipatory methods as well Develop lesson plans or a tutoring outline for each Manual/section prior to yourcourse. When preparing a course/session outline, decide what tutoringtechniques you will use to present the core concepts.
