Easy to read and written in a bias-free style, this volume isenhanced by a useful chronology <strong>of</strong> contemporary political reform (1962-1996) and avery thorough bibliography. Unfortunately, some information can be difficult to locate."Don't ask, don't tell" is not found under D for "Don't." Even if students were well versedenough to know that the phrase had something to do with the gay rights movement andlooked under that heading, they still wouldn't find mention <strong>of</strong> it. <strong>The</strong>y would have to usethe see-also references under "Gay Rights Movement" that direct them to two articles:"Civil Rights Movement" and "Clinton, William J." <strong>The</strong> phrase is briefly explained in thearticle about Clinton.
