Concurrently, the journal supports a broad research agenda aimedat building inter-disciplinary bridges with relevant areas and invigorating crossdisciplinarydebate. Political ideologies are indispensable to appreciating the role ofpolitical thought within social, temporal and spatial contexts. The journal explores thegeneral phenomenon of ideologies as well as their particular instances. In parallel itemphasizes that political action, processes and institutions are endowed with ideologicalimport and shaped to a considerable extent by political ideologies. The indeterminacy ofthe notion of ideology is recognized in a number of ways. It is concerned with attempts tocontrol political language and discourse, with epistemological issues of truth, distortionand dissimulation, and with sociological phenomena of power, dominance andexploitation, as well as with functional questions, denoting action-oriented politicalthinking. Significant attention is also devoted to analyzing ideologies in terms of theiractual histories, geographical and cultural expression, and the idea-patterns of particularideological variants and ideological traditions.
