MID/ASIA 9-2<strong>Regional</strong> Supplem<strong>en</strong>tary <strong>Procedures</strong>Note.— In airspace where the strategic lateral offset procedures (SLOP) has be<strong>en</strong> authorized,aircraft experi<strong>en</strong>cing communication failure may also elect to initiate SLOP in accordance withState AIP, including an offset of 1.8 or 3.7 km (1 NM or 2 NM) right of track.6) Upon exiting oceanic airspace, conform to the relevant State procedures and regulations.9.3.1.2 In the ev<strong>en</strong>t of lost communication, ATC shall maintain separation betwe<strong>en</strong> the aircraft having thecommunication failure and other aircraft, based on the assumption that the aircraft having the communication failure willoperate in accordance with the procedures in 9.3.1.1.9.4 DEGRADATION OR FAILURE OF THE RNAV SYSTEM9.4.1 Action by the pilot-in-command9.4.1.1 For operations in the ICAO MID Region, wh<strong>en</strong>, as a result of a failure of the RNAV system or itsdegradation to below RNP 5, an aircraft is unable either to <strong>en</strong>ter an ATS route designated as RNP 5 or to continueoperations in accordance with the curr<strong>en</strong>t air traffic control clearance, a revised clearance shall, wh<strong>en</strong>ever possible, berequested by the pilot.9.4.1.2 Subsequ<strong>en</strong>t ATC action in respect of that aircraft will be dep<strong>en</strong>d<strong>en</strong>t upon the nature of the reported failureand the overall traffic situation. Continued operation in accordance with the curr<strong>en</strong>t ATC clearance may be possible inmany situations. Wh<strong>en</strong> this cannot be achieved, a revised clearance may be required to revert to VOR/DME.9.4.2 Action by the ATS unit9.4.2.1 For operations in the ICAO MID Region, wh<strong>en</strong>, as a result of a failure or degradation of the RNAV system,detected either before or after departure, the aircraft cannot meet the requirem<strong>en</strong>ts of 4.1.1.5.3.3, the ATC proceduresas specified in 6.11.2.1 and 6.11.2.2 are applicable.9.5 LOSS OF VERTICAL NAVIGATION PERFORMANCE REQUIRED FOR RVSMNote.— Applicable within Amman, Bahrain, Beirut, Cairo, Damascus, Emirates, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat(contin<strong>en</strong>tal part), Sana’a (contin<strong>en</strong>tal part) and Tehran FIRs. For Amman, Beirut, Cairo and Damascus, see theEuropean SUPPs.9.5.1 G<strong>en</strong>eralNil.9.5.2 Degradation of aircraft equipm<strong>en</strong>t – pilot reported(A6, Part I – Chapter 7 and App<strong>en</strong>dix 4; A6, Part II – Chapter 7 and App<strong>en</strong>dix 2)9.5.2.1 Wh<strong>en</strong> informed by the pilot of an RVSM-approved aircraft operating in the MID RVSM airspace that theaircraft’s equipm<strong>en</strong>t no longer meets the RVSM MASPS as specified in 4.2.2, ATC shall <strong>cons</strong>ider the aircraft as non-RVSM-approved.30/11/07
