Chapter 1.FLIGHT RULES1.1 VISUAL FLIGHT RULES (VFR)1.1.1 Special applicationNil.1.2 INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES (IFR)(A2 – Chapters 2 and 5)Note.— Annex 2, 2.2, permits a flight to operate using either instrument flight rules or visual flight ruleswhen operated in visual meteorological conditions subject to the limitations listed in Chapter 4 of the Annex. Thefollowing indicates certain additional restrictions.1.2.1 Special application1.2.1.1 Flights shall be conducted in accordance with instrument flight rules when operated more than 37 km (20NM) seaward from the shoreline, for a duration of more than one hour, except that compliance with IFR minimum levelsis not required during the day in visual meteorological conditions.1.2.2 Flight level changesNil.1.3 AIR TRAFFIC ADVISORY SERVICE(P-ATM – Chapter 9)Note.— The PANS-ATM leaves it to the discretion of the pilot whether or not to obtain air traffic advisoryservice, where available.
