The <strong>Maryland</strong> certification enables the graduate toteach in the state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> and provides enhanced opportunitiesfor interstate reciprocity.Teacher certification requirements are constantly evolving inmany states. Students are responsible for remaining informedabout the teacher certification requirements <strong>of</strong> the state inwhich they seek to become certified. They should also confirmrequirements and any reciprocity arrangements with the state’scertifying agency. State-specific information is available throughthe National Association <strong>of</strong> State Directors <strong>of</strong> Teacher Educationand Certification’s Web site at www.nasdtec.org/agreement.php.Career Path■■Secondary school teacher in the state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong>PartnershipsStudents who complete their undergraduate degree at UMUCwith an appropriate major (i.e., computer science, cybersecurity,information systems management English, history, or socialscience) may be able to reduce their total coursework for theMAT by 6 credits (one course) under an articulation agreementbetween the School <strong>of</strong> Undergraduate Studies and the GraduateSchool <strong>of</strong> Management and Technology.
