The approach of non-uniform heating ofa system containing different chemical reagents is used in the present work forperforming and modeling the decomposition of liquid hydrocarbons, which are notabsorbing MW, in the presence of solid catalyst possessing high MW absorbency. The endothermic process is performed under high temperature, over 650K, so, first,a considerable amount of heat is supplying to the catalyst and, second, the thermaldecomposition occurs in a non isothermal three-phase system “solid catalyst + liquidreagent + gaseous products”.For the experiments on MW heating of mixtures “catalyst + liquid hydrocarbons”,we designed special MW cavities of high quality (with large “Q factor”). The possibilityof (i) resonance frequency tuning, (ii) changing the coupling coefficient, (iii) placingthe investigated sample into the maximum of both magnetic (Cavity 1) and electric(Cavity 2) field and (iv) measuring the efficiency of MW absorption have beenenvisaged. The MW power density absorbed by the catalyst can reach at least 100Wper 1g. As the pyrolysed reagents, n-hexadecane C 16 H 34 (the boiling temperature560K), fuel oil (viscous mixture of hydrocarbons C 16+ ) and viscous Mongolian oil withthe high content of heavy paraffin have been used without preliminary heating. As thecatalysts, some materials with good microwaves absorbency have been chosen:granules of a cermet Al 2 O 3 /Al (hydrothermally synthesized from powderedaluminium), “magnetocenospheres” (a fraction of flying ash of coal combustion withhigh content, 90%wt., of iron oxide), granulated zeolite, artificial porous graphite-likematerial Sibunit, fiberglass which can be used as a catalyst support and fiberglasswith deposited Pd. The catalysts were loaded to a quartz reactor of both flow and150
