PP-II-51data such flow sheet provides the achievement of 97-98% conversion at treatment ofgases with inlet SO 2 concentration varying in the range from 2-2.5 up to 7-8% vol.Another challenge in this area is development of reverse-processes for treatmentof extra-strong smelter gases with SO 2 concentration as high as 35-40% vol. Thenew DC/DA reverse-process flow sheets with SO 3 recycle [4] and new version ofabsorption-catalytic reverse-process (Fig.2) make possible to treat such gases withoverall conversion degree up to 99.96%.CATALYTICCONVERTERABSORBER A1HEAT EXCHANGERHEX1C1HIGH PRESSURESTEAMHEAT EXCHANGERHEX3C2WASTE HEATBOILER WHB1OUTLET GASIn1SWITCHINGVALVE V3C3In2RECYCLEPUMPIn3INITIALSTRONGGASC4In4SWITCHINGVALVE V4HEAT EXCHANGERHEX2ABSORBER A2SWITCHINGVALVE V1SWITCHINGVALVE V2AIRFig.2.
