PP-III-53CATALYTIC CONVERSION OF FISCHER-TROPSCH WAX ONPt/AlSBA-15 AND Pt/β ZEOLITE CATALYSTSGyörgy Pölczmann 1 , József Valyon 2 , Jenő Hancsók 11 University of Pannonia, Department of Hydrocarbon and Coal Processing,e-mail: hancsokj@almos.uni-pannon.hu2 Chemical Research Center, Institute of Chemistry, Hungarian Academy of SciencesBecause of the more serious problems with the environment and the crude oilsupply the use of fuels and lubricants produced from renewable feedstocks has cometo the front nowadays. Accordingly it is very important to develop a catalytic system(identification of the proper catalysts and advantageous process parameters) thatcan be applied to produce the target product (mixture of gas oil and base oil) withselective isomerization (skeletal arrangement) and with high isoparaffin selectivityfrom solid n-paraffin mixtures produced with Fischer-Tropsch synthesis [1-3]. Theisomerization of high molecular weight n-paraffins can be effectively carried out onbifunctional catalysts. There are only a few indications about the application of metalcatalysts on mesoporous carrier in the literature. [4,5]. Consequently our objectivewas to investigate a Pt/AlSBA-15 catalyst which has not been investigated in detail inthis reaction system yet, compared with a Pt/beta zeolite which was earlier appliedfor isomerization of high molecular weight n-paraffins [4,6].The applicability andIsom er co nt ent , %Pt/beta, 40 barPt/AlSBA-15, 40 barPt/beta, 60 barPt/AlSBA-15, 60 bar80Pt/beta, 80 barPt/AlSBA-15, 80 bar706050403020100250 275 300 325 350 375Temperature, °CFigure 1: The effect of process parameters to the isomercontents of the liquid products (LHSV = 1 h –1 ).catalytic activity ofPt/AlSBA-15 and Pt/betazeolite catalysts of 0.45 %platinum content for theselective isomerization ofFischer-Tropsch wax wasinvestigated in the presentexperiment.Theexperiments were carriedout in a high-pressuremicroreactor system incontinuous operation and on a catalyst with steady-state activity. The main propertiesof the feedstock which was a mixture of paraffin produced by Fischer-Tropschsynthesis (the synthesis gas was produced from biomass) were: n-paraffin content(C 18 -C 57 ): 97.4%, sulphur content: < 5 mg/kg, pour point: 72 °C.
