PP-II-58reaction rate is observed in the initial thin layer of the catalyst volume and in the partof frontal surface layer. The temperature distribution has heterogeneous characterboth in the gas flow and in the catalyst volume increasing rather smoothly in the gasvolume, the temperature difference between the catalyst and gas volumes issignificant. The character of local methane concentration and temperature profiles inthe gas phase are similar (Fig.1).12Fig. 1. Distribution of temperature (1) and CH 4 concentration (2) along the catalyst fragmentlength. Inlet temperature and CH 4 concentration are equal of 400°C and 1.5% vol.correspondingly.Thus, results of CFD modeling show that the performance of an exothermiccatalytic reaction in the structured catalyst with porous walls is characterized bysignificant inhomogeneity of the reaction rate and temperature in the catalyst volume.References[1].
