PP-III-57CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF CATALYSTS AND KINETICSOF HIGHER PARAFFINS DEHYDROGENATIONRomanovskiy R.V., Youriev E.M., Frantsina E.V., Dolganov I.M., Kravtsov A.V.Tomsk Polytechnic University, Lenin Street, 30, 634050, Tomsk, Russia;Fax: +7(3822)563-435; ravix@sibmail.comHigher paraffins (C 10 -C 13 ) are dehydrogenated to produce linear alkylbenzene(LAB) – the most common raw material in the manufacture of biodegradablehousehold detergents. This is a production of high priority so raising its efficiency isvery important. Selectivity of the process depends on the catalyst used in the firstplace. Therefore, testing and selection of most efficient catalyst defines performanceof the entire installation. This work is devoted to researching changes in characteristics of catalystsdepending on promoters’ contents like Sn, alkali and earth metals. Quality andquantity of promoters have significant impact on catalyst operation [1-3]. Samples ofthree types of catalysts marked as CD-1, CD-2 and CD-3 were analyzed by SEMmethod using equipment of TPU Nano-Centre – JSM-7500FA microscope. Analysisproved that all samples were Pt catalysts on γ–Al 2 O 3 with promoters. Massconcentration for Al and O was roughly the same for all samples and much greaterthan promoter concentration. However, Pt (main dehydrogenation component)content decreases from first to last sample while production experiments in Pacolprocess showed that activity, selectivity and operation life of these catalysts areactually increasing [4]. Therefore, quality of catalysts work is defined equably bycontent of main component (Pt) and additional components.Characteristic CD-1 CD-2 CD-3Na content, mass % 0,06 — 0,88K content, mass % 0,18 — 0,21Cu content, mass % 0,32 0,16 0,06Sn content, mass % 0,64 0,40 0,50Pt content, mass % 0,94 0,84 0,85Operation life (approx.), days 180 200 250Thus, there is a significant increase in sodium content among the samples. Thefirst sample contains almost no sodium, but a small content of potassium; the second544
