Angels from heaven<br />
Collection of more than 340 orignally printed<br />
scraps from the 1870s to c. 1910. The collection<br />
includes a broad variety of scraps from miniature<br />
to large scale figures and 12 uncut scrap sheets.<br />
The smallest scrap measures 2,3 x 2 cm, the largest<br />
29 x 14,5 cm. Among the motifs are many<br />
early Raphaels angels, angels in winther clothing,<br />
sentimental angel motifs and many more, several<br />
with tinsel.<br />

This collection of scraps contains several early, original<br />
printings of one of the most popular scrap motifs<br />
of all times: the putti of Raphael. This Renaissance<br />
motif became a popular Christmas scrap in the late<br />
19th century and it still is. The figures were taken<br />
from the Italian Renaissance artist Raphael's (1483<br />
1520) painting of The Sistine Madonna. Faurholt p.<br />
