The autograph manuscript for the foreword for<br />
"Jason" by Vilhelm Topsøe (18401881) documents<br />
Bang's creative process. When he edited his own<br />
works, he would cut out good parts from earlier versions<br />
in order to save himself the trouble of writing<br />
everything twice: "Manuskriptet kom således til at<br />
bestå dels af sådanne ofte meget tynde strimler, dels<br />
af blade af normal størrelse." (Hårsløf, 1977, p. 16).<br />
Manuscripts and proof sheets of works by Herman<br />
Bang are only rarely available on the market.<br />
