Oscar Wilde's (1854­1900) novel "The Picture of
Dorian Gray" deals with the artistic movement of the
decadents and homosexuality ­ both controversial
themes when it was published. Today however Wilde's
novel is regarded as one of the modern classics of
Western literature.
