Voltaire's "Dictionnaire philosophique" (1764) was<br />
one of his most revolting works and it was censored in<br />
France and Switzerland by the religious authorities. It<br />
was however very popular among the public and new<br />
editions were needed to feed the demand. This new<br />
edition published in 1765, was supposedly printed<br />
in London, as it states on the title leaf. However this<br />
edition is said to be printed by the notorious printer<br />
Marc Michel Rey in Amsterdam, who was known for<br />
printing and selling banned books by enlightenment<br />
philosophers like Rosseau, Diderot and Voltaire.<br />
