FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ETHICS(d)(e)<strong>The</strong>se St<strong>and</strong>ards shall be applied in accounting for interests inJoint Ventures <strong>and</strong> the reporting <strong>of</strong> joint assets, liabilities <strong>and</strong>income <strong>and</strong> expenses in the financial statements <strong>of</strong> venturers<strong>and</strong> investors, regardless <strong>of</strong> the structures or forms under whichthe Joint Venture activities take place. However, they do not applyto venturers interests in jointly controlled entities held for tradingpurposes, by:(i)(ii)Venture capital organisations, orMutual funds, unit trusts <strong>and</strong> similar entities includinginvestment-linked insurance funds that are recognizedat cost, less any provision for impairment.A venture with an interest in a jointly controlled entity isexempted from proportionate consolidation <strong>and</strong> equity methodwhen it meets the following conditions:(i) <strong>The</strong>re is evidence that the interest is acquired <strong>and</strong> heldexclusively with a view to its disposal within twelvemonths from acquisition <strong>and</strong> that management is activelyseeking a buyer;(ii) <strong>The</strong> venture is a wholly-owned subsidiary, or is a partiallyownedsubsidiary <strong>of</strong> another entity <strong>and</strong> its owners,including those not otherwise entitled to vote, have beeninformed about, <strong>and</strong> do not object to, the venture notapplying proportionate consolidation or the equitymethod;(iii) <strong>The</strong> venturer’s debt or equity instruments are not tradedin a public market (a domestic or foreign stock exchangeor an over-the-counter market, including local <strong>and</strong>regional markets);(iv) <strong>The</strong> venture did not file, nor is it in the process <strong>of</strong> filling,its financial statements with the Securities <strong>and</strong> ExchangeCommission or other regulatory organisations, for thepurpose <strong>of</strong> issuing any class <strong>of</strong> instruments in a publicmarket; <strong>and</strong>(v) <strong>The</strong> ultimate or any intermediate parent <strong>of</strong> the ventureproduces consolidated financial statements available forpublic use that comply with Statements <strong>of</strong> AccountingSt<strong>and</strong>ard (SAS) or International Accounting St<strong>and</strong>ard(IAS).5.2.9 <strong>Financial</strong> Instruments PresentationRelevant st<strong>and</strong>ards are:IAS 32 <strong>Financial</strong> Instruments: Representation.IAS 39 <strong>Financial</strong> Instruments: Recognition <strong>and</strong> Measurement.100
