Driver distraction analysis based on FFT
of steering wheel angle
Driver Distraction causes a lot of (deadly) accidents every year
R.I.P.
Therefore, we focus on the steering wheel angle to detect
and avoid distracted driving situations
Frequency [HZ]
By making a Fast Fourier Transformation of the steering
wheel angle, we can see differences in the spectra
between normal (green) and distracted (blue) driving
• Average amplitude range from 1 to 7
• Less steering corrections
• Averge amplitude range from 3 to 12
• Max value of amplitude much higher
• Big problems with lane tracking
