Configuring <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Databases<br />

Viewing the various database configuration properties<br />

<strong>OpenEdge</strong> <strong>Management</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>OpenEdge</strong> <strong>Explorer</strong> provide a predefined default database<br />

configuration. Once you add a database instance, you can use the property settings established<br />

in the default configuration, you can modify the default settings, or you can create <strong>and</strong> modify<br />

additional configurations.<br />

Note that only one database default configuration can be selected for a database at a time.<br />

To view the database default configuration properties:<br />

1. Click Resources in the management console menu bar. The main resource types appear in<br />

the list frame.<br />

2. In the list frame, browse to <strong>and</strong> click the desired database. The Database Details page for<br />

the database appears in the detail frame.<br />

3. In the Comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> control section of the page, click <strong>Configuration</strong>. The Database<br />

<strong>Configuration</strong> page appears.<br />

4. Click configuration..defaultconfiguration. The Database<br />

<strong>Configuration</strong> page appears, displaying the default configuration properties in the<br />

following categories: General, Background Writers, After Image <strong>Management</strong>,<br />

International, Advanced, Statistics Collection <strong>Configuration</strong>, SQL-92<br />

<strong>Configuration</strong>, SSL <strong>Configuration</strong>, <strong>and</strong> Agent. These properties are described in<br />

Table 2–2 through Table 2–10, which follow this procedure.<br />

From the Database <strong>Configuration</strong> page, you can do the following:<br />

• View a read-only display of the database default configuration properties as<br />

described in Table 2–2 through Table 2–10.<br />

• Click Edit to modify the default database properties. For details, see the “Editing the<br />

database default configuration” section on page 2–17.<br />

• Click the relevant link to access the associated database server group properties. For<br />

details about these properties, see the “Viewing the server group” section on<br />

page 2–20.
