Configuring <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Databases<br />

Viewing database status<br />

You can view the status of a database's configurations, server groups, <strong>and</strong> auxiliary processes<br />

through <strong>OpenEdge</strong> <strong>Management</strong> or <strong>OpenEdge</strong> <strong>Explorer</strong>. You can also view the status of the<br />

database monitoring agent.<br />

Note: Most of the broker instances provide a status view, enabling you to monitor the status<br />

of multiple brokers simultaneously. You can monitor instances located on the same or<br />

different servers.<br />

To view the status of a database:<br />

1. Click Resources in the management console menu bar. The main resource types appear in<br />

the list frame.<br />

2. In the list frame, browse to <strong>and</strong> click the desired database. The Database Details page for<br />

the database appears in the detail frame.<br />

3. Click Control. The Database Control page appears.<br />

4. Review the following status information for the database:<br />

• Database information — The database name, the active port or ports, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

configuration being used by the database.<br />

• Database status — The status for the database <strong>and</strong> monitoring agent.<br />

• Database auxiliary status — The status of the After image page writer, the Before<br />

image page writer, the Auxiliary page writers, <strong>and</strong> the Watchdog process for this<br />

server group.<br />

• Properties — The status of the Monitor <strong>and</strong> Enabled settings: enabled (checked)<br />

or disabled.<br />

Viewing database process details<br />

You can access real-time details <strong>and</strong> statistics that provide you with snapshot information about<br />

a running database at the point you access this information from the Control page. You can<br />

review this information to help you assess the database’s performance.<br />

To access processing details:<br />

1. Click Resources in the management console menu bar. The main resource types appear in<br />

the list frame.<br />

2. In the list frame, browse to <strong>and</strong> click the desired database. The Database Details page for<br />

the database appears in the detail frame.<br />

3. Click Control. The Database Control page appears.
