Video stream multiplicationEach video encoding profi le can be assigned with fi ve (5) differentdestination addresses (primary stream and additional streams). Theseaddresses can be freely set to unicast, multicast or a combination ofthese. In addition there is a tick box that enables to fi lter out P-frames fromeach output stream for low frame rate applications. This approachprovides for a very cost effi cient dual streaming in situations where the lowframe rate stream is a direct subset of the higher frame rate stream. Inpractise this means that the number of I-frames is the common nominator.As an example, one MPC-E4 unit can stream (unicast or multicast) 4 x2CIF@25fps for monitoring and 4 x 2CIF@3fps (unicast or multicast) forrecording simultaneously. The precondition of this is that the number ofI-frames per second in the primary stream is confi gured with I-frameinterval setting to match the frame rate of the low fps stream. In theexample above the I-frame interval of the primary stream would need tobe 8 (GOP = IPPPPPPPIPPPPPPPIPP…) generating 3 I-frames persecond thus resulting in 3fps stream when P-frames are fi ltered out.The use of multiple destination addresses up to a certain degree doesn’tload the MPU; however one should take into account that the aggregatebit rate of all output streams does not exceed the capacity of the100Mbps interface.JPEG image captureAdditionally there is a JPEG image capture feature that allows takingJPEG snapshots from the video and storing them into a ftp server. It isalso possible view JPEG captures with http. There are four JPEGcapture channels available for each MPU.
