P1.8Fri 911:10-14:00Surface tension of electrolyte solutions: a Monte CarlostudyAlexandre Diehl, 1 Alexandre Pereira dos Santos, 1 and Yan Levin 11 Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Departamento de Física, UFPel, Caixa Postal 35496010-900, Pelotas, BrazilExtensive Monte Carlo simulations have been performed to calculate the surface tensions of electrolytesolutions. The simulation method uses a new theory proposed by Levin et al. [1, 2], whereboth the ionic hydration and the polarizability are taken into account. We obtain the ionic densityprofiles of different sodium salts with monovalent and divalent anions, such as sodium-halogenand sodium-oxy anion salts, in order to calculate the surface tension by integrating the Gibbsadsorption isotherm equation. The agreement with the experimental measurements is discussedand possible extensions of the model are discussed.[1] Y. Levin, A. P. dos Santos, and A. Diehl, Phys. Rev.
