P8.56Thu 811:<strong>10</strong>-14:00Avalanche excitations in the quenched dusty plasmaliquidYen-Shuo Su, 1 Chong-Wai Io, 1 and Lin I 11 National Central University, No. 300, Jhongda Rd. , 32001, Jhongli City, TaiwanThe dusty plasma liquid is formed by the negatively charged dust particles suspended in a low pressurerf discharge. By suddenly reducing the rf power, the liquid can be quenched to the supercooledliquid state. In this work, the avalanched type cooperative motion and structural rearrangement inthe transient slowing down relaxation after the deep quenching is experimentally studied at thediscrete level through optical microscopy. It is found that, in the relaxation process, the intermittentavalanche type collective motion induced by accumulating sufficient constructive thermalagitations leads to the local and global structural evolution to the better averaged structure and thedynamical slowing down with increasing heterogeneity. The power law distribution of the size ofthe avalanche cluster is observed. The rapid increases of the excitation levels of different scalemotions slightly before the avalanche process signify the precursors for avalanche.56
