P3.2Fri 911:10-14:00Studies in Cds-nanorods doped ferroelectric liquidcrystal filmsAshok Chaudhary, 1 Praveen Malik, 1 Rohit Mehra, 1 and KK Raina 11 DR B R AMBEDKAR NIT JALNADHAR, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS, DR B RAMBEDKAR NIT JALNADHAR 144011, JALANDHAR, IndiaLiquid crystalline materials are ubiquitously applied to display devices in modern electro-opticaltechnology. It has long been realized that liquid crystals are the most promising materials for displayas well as non-display applications because of their unique properties in modern technology. In the present work, a small quantity of CdS nanorods (0.0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 wt. /wt.%) was dispersedinto a ferroelectric liquid crystal material. The composite films were prepared and studiedbetween two indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates of thickness 4m. The influence ofCdS nanorods on the electro-optical and dielectric parameters of ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC)mixture was studied. We report here dispersion of CdS shows the fastening of switching time, which is attributed with an increase in spontaneous polarization and corresponding decrease inrotational viscosity. The decrease in dielectric permittivity was also noticed with the dispersion ofCdS nanorods into FLC.2
