Tue 611:23-14:00P9.59Limestone filler / cement ratio effect on the rheologicalbehavior of a fresh SCC cement pasteF. J. Rubio-Hernández 1 and J. M. Morales-Alcalde 11 University of Málaga, C/ Doctor Ortiz Ramos, 29071, Málaga, SpainThe influence of limestone filler/cement ratio (LF/CM) on the steady and time-dependent rheologicalbehaviors of a fresh self-compacting concrete (SCC) cement paste has been studied. Whenthe limestone filler content increases steady flow curves show a transition from non-linear to linearbehavior. Moreover the yield stress and the plastic viscosity decrease when LF/CM ratio increases. Therefore the paste with a higher LF/CM ratio will be more self-leveling, although the correspondingmortar and concrete will presumably be more prone to show segregation. Time-dependent behavior(thixotropy) has also shown LF/CM ratio dependence. The pastes are less thixotropic whenlimestone filler content increases making the paste valid for vertical applications. An attempt hasbeen made to give an explanation of the rheological behavior observed on basis of the particlestructure formation. The different shape and size of limestone filler and cement particles havebeen used as arguments to explain the results found in this study.59
