New data shows that gratings in nanoparticlepolymercomposites offer advantages for tuning the parameters crucial for neutron diffraction bysuitable choice of the species and concentration of nanoparticles. Recently, a beam splitter forneutrons of 2nm wavelength has been demonstrated with a grating recorded in such materials.Furthermore, we show how our concept can be extended to include magnetic interactions of neutronswith superparamagnetic nanoparticles to obtain polarizing beam splitters for cold neutrons.50
