However, in confinementcolloidal suspensions show new features that are not typically found in the bulk. Additionally,external fields may induce changes in the colloidal phase behavior. In this contribution, we presentour recent work on colloidal suspensions in confinement and under the action of external fields.We put emphasis on the following cases: a) commensurate and incommensurate structures, aswell as the single-file diffusion in quasi-1D colloidal systems in periodic substrates, b) two-bodyhydrodynamic correlations in three-particle systems under harmonic potentials and c) diffusion ofa single Brownian particle on a curved surface.27
