XNX Universal Transmitter1.1 Product Description1.1.1 Universal TransmitterThe XNX Universal Transmitter is a comprehensive solution designedto operate in hazardous locations and utilize one of three sensortechnologies or personalities to detect toxic or flammable and oxygendepletion gas hazards using infrared, catalytic bead or electrochemicalbasedsensors. XNX Electrochemical Sensors employ the patentedReflex cell fault diagnosis routine. Reflex checks for cell presence,cell dry out and cell open or short circuit. In the event of a cell failingthis test, a sensor fault code is displayed. Reflex is automaticallyinitiated by the transmitter at 8 hourly intervals. It is also initiated onpower up or sensor exchange.XNX Universal Transmitter1.1.2 CommunicationsThe XNX Universal Transmitter uses HART ® over 3-wire 4-20mA asthe standard communications protocol. An optional Modbus ® interfaceis available.
