Extensions can be of mixed length – for example,three and four digits. A timer on the system can differentiatebetween a user dialing extension 364 and 3647.An error message will result if the entered extension number is alreadyin use.Type:A drop-down menu which provides the following selection ofextension types: SIP, Analog and Virtual.One of these three must be specified. This field cannot be left blank.SIP:Selected when using a SIP telephone set or SIP software phone.AnalogSelected when using an analog phone set or analog fax machine.VirtualA virtual extension is used for shared or departmental Voicemailboxes.Establishes a virtual voicemail box which is not associatedwith a specific user.Example: The sales department can use a virtual voicemailbox to store customer requests, and a number of salesstaff can access this box in order to process themessages.
