Data for "inside the United States"during 1930-67 actually refer to the period 1961-67. Prior to 1961, all reported hljackingsoccurred outside the United States."Successful" means that the hijacker controls the flight and reaches the destination orobjective. ''U1successful'' means that the hijacker attempts to take control of the flight but fails(the hijacking may be averted ei'lher in flight or on ground).
