Management <strong>of</strong> Facial Nerve InjuryIncidence In superficial parotidectomy with dissection andpreservation <strong>of</strong> the nerve:- Temporary palsy – 16% - 47%.- Permanent palsy – 0% - 9%. Recovery <strong>of</strong> paresis (temporary) usually takes 2-3months, sometimes longer.EtiologySurgery – inadvertent injury or palsy due to extensivedissection.
