hypothesized ordering of groups in terms of neuropsychologictoxicity was obtained with regard to Performance IntelligenceQuotient (IQ), Full Scale IQ, Attention, Reading, andArithmetic.CONCLUSION: Children treated for medulloblastomaexperienced less severe neuropsychologic toxicity whentreated with 23.4 Gy instead of 36 Gy cranial irradiation. Olderchildren experienced less toxicity than children who wereyounger at the time of irradiation.5. Neuropsychological status in children and youngadults with benign and low-grade brain tumorstreated prospectively with focal stereotacticconformal radiotherapy. Jalali R, Goswami S, SarinR et al., Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2006; 66(4):S14–S19Purpose: To present prospective neuropsychological data atbaseline and follow-up in children and young adults withbenign and low-grade gliomas treated with focal stereotacticconformal radiotherapy (SCRT). Methods and Materials: Atotal of 22 patients (age 4–25 years) with residual/progressivebenign and low-grade brain tumors considered suitable forSCRT underwent detailed and in-depth neuropsychologicaland cognitive testing at baseline before SCRT. The test batteryincluded measurement of age-adjusted intelligence quotients(IQs) and cognitive parameters of visual, spatial, visuomotor, and attention concentrations. Anxiety was measured using theState-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children and HamiltonAnxiety Rating Scale for patients >16 years old. Patients weretreated with high-precision conformal radiotherapy understereotactic guidance to a dose of 54 Gy in 30 fractions. Allneuropsychological assessments were repeated at 6 and 24months after SCRT completion and compared with the baselinevalues. Results: The baseline mean full-scale IQ before startingRT for patients
