WELCOME MESSAGE
On behalf of the International Society of Citriculture (ISC) and the Organizing
Committee I wish to warmly welcome you to the 12th International Citrus Congress
(ICC 2012) and welcome to the city of Valencia.
The ICC 2012 is taking place from 18 to 23 November, at the Valencia Conference Center.
More than 720 scientific contributions will be presented in this congress to highlight the
advances in citrus research. The Organizing Committee with the collaboration of the
selected conveners have built a scientific program which will provide a balanced the
overview among basic and applied citrus research, to be presented in parallel sessions.
Of special consideration are the seven plenary sessions and the eleven workshops
focused to look at recent advances and future prospects on specific citrus issues, related
to the most important scientific and technological problems. The main objective of the
whole program is to bring together members from the citrus community for a thorough
and lively discussion on each theme. The program also places a special emphasis on
the main theme ‘Citrus and Health’ focused from different perspectives. Thus I would like
to meet you all in these sessions!
In addition to this exciting scientific program, you will benefit of being in the third
largest city of Spain. The legacy left by more than 2000 years of different cultures
and civilizations shape the the city’s monuments and streets, and also their habitants.
Valencia is a city that never sleeps, with an extensive cultural a lineup start-studded at
any time of year with festivals, concerts, shows and exhibitions. The excellent climate
and the attractive cityscape allow outdoors activities as café terraces, seaside
terraces, parks and garden activities throught all the year. I’m sure that all you will
enjoy the experience of living Valencia.
Last but not least, I wish to thank to the Organizing Committee, collaborators, conveners
and Sponsors for their extraordinary efforts to make the 12 th International Citrus Congress
possible.
