Dr Agogué. The new insights gained from the project werepresented to the world in an article written by Dr Agoguéand published in the prestigious journal Evolution. Sheconsiders this one of her key achievements during the<strong>Marie</strong> <strong>Curie</strong> Fellowship.supervisor and his entire group were very international,with researchers coming from five different Europeannations. Also, the time I spent in this laboratory allowed for anexchange of knowledge and techniques benefi cial for both theNetherlands and the French marine microbiology community.’Returning to familiar shoresAfter fi nishing her postdoc in the Netherlands, Dr Agoguéreturned to France where she completed a one-year fellowshipat the University of La Rochelle. She has also been offered apermanent position in the Institute for Coastal and EnvironmentalScience. The position will be fi nanced by the French NationalCentre for Scientifi c Research, the largest government researchorganisation in France.Dr Agogué believes that the <strong>Marie</strong> <strong>Curie</strong> Fellowship wasinstrumental in her current career success.‘This project with the Herndl group allowed me to obtainexperience in project management and to present the resultsof my research at international meetings, since the projectOf course, much of her success can also be attributed to herhard work and positive attitude. ‘Science must be a passion;a career in science is built on perseverance and patiencebut also the willingness to “leave home” and learn newthings.
