It issupported by the Helen Dwight Reid Education Foundation andranks among the most prestigious for doctoral dissertations ininternational relations. ‘Winning this prize has been an honourand gives me huge motivation to continue my work to thehighest of academic standards,’ Dr Petrova says.aerial and missile warfare, direct participation of civilians inhostilities, and development of codes of conduct for privatemilitary contractors.Dr Petrova also eventually plans to concentrate more onenvironmental politics by studying environmental protests inEastern Europe with a specifi c focus on civil society mobilisationwithin the context of the EU legal and institutional framework.This motivation is visible in Dr Petrova’s future plans, whichinclude publishing a manuscript entitled: The Politics of NormCreation: State Leadership and NGO Partnerships in Curbingthe Weapons of War.
