Zephaniah 1:15, 16. "Behold, theday of the Lord cometh, . . . to lay the land desolate: and He shall destroythe sinners thereof out of it." Isaiah 13:9. In view of that great day the wordof God, in the most solemn and impressive language, calls upon His peopleto arouse from their spiritual lethargy and to seek His face with repentanceand humiliation: "Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in Myholy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of theLord cometh, for it is nigh at hand." Revelation 14:6, 7.This message is declared to be a part of "the everlasting gospel." The workof preaching the gospel has not been committed to angels, but has beenentrusted to men.
