“_ _ _ _ _ _ is forgotten”<br />

“Since the beginning of time, for us humans, forgetting has been the norm and remembering the<br />

exception. Because of digital technology and global networks, however, this balance has shifted.<br />

… forgetting has become the exception, and remembering the default.”<br />

Most of what is commonly created<br />

today are stored digitally<br />

and also spread using digital<br />

tools and networks.<br />

“_ _ _ _ _ _ is forgotten.” is a<br />

spatial design, consisting of<br />

video mapped sculptures,<br />

questioning the expiry date<br />

and decision-maker of digitally<br />

stored private and public<br />

information, and furthermore<br />

if that information could and<br />

should ever be forgotten. The<br />

interactive space has its own<br />

“time” and “memory”, and<br />

it is welcoming visitors w/o<br />

exposing the fact that their<br />

existence in that very space<br />

is being recorded as numerical<br />

data and projected visually<br />

on the room’s “memory”.<br />

Yet soon they will realize that<br />

the 6 digit number screened<br />

within the title of the work<br />

is changing continuously<br />

throughout the exhibition,<br />

the room itself deleting (forgetting)<br />

all visitor data in its<br />

memory at the end of a two<br />

week period.<br />

Een groot deel van wat tegenwoordig<br />

gemaakt wordt is digitaal<br />

opgeslagen en wordt verspreid<br />

via digitale netwerken<br />

en instrumenten.<br />

“_ _ _ _ _ _ is forgotten.” is een<br />

ruimtelijk ontwerp waar met<br />

mapping sofware videobeelden<br />

op worden geprojecteerd.<br />

Het stelt vraagtekens bij de<br />

houdbaarheidsdatum en het<br />

eigendom van digitaal en opgeslagen<br />

private en publieke informatie,<br />

en of deze informatie<br />

kan en vergeten mag worden.<br />

De interactieve ruimte heeft<br />

zijn eigen ‘tijd’ en ‘geheugen’<br />

en verwelkomt bezoekers zonder<br />

dat zij doorhebben dat hun<br />

aanwezigheid wordt opgenomen<br />

als numerieke data en geprojecteerd<br />

op het ‘geheugen’<br />

van de kamer. Later zal de deelnemer<br />

zich echter realiseren<br />

dat het zes-cijferige nummer in<br />

de titel van het werk, dat tijdens<br />

de tentoonstelling continue<br />

verandert, vanzelf vergeten<br />

wordt door de kamer aan het<br />

einde van de tentoonstelling.<br />

Günümüzde ortak bilgi/ortak<br />

ürün olarak yaratılan şeylerin<br />

çoğu dijital olarak saklanmaktadır<br />

ve dijital araç ve ağlar<br />

kullanılarak yayılmaktadır.<br />

„_ _ _ _ _ _ Is Forgotten“<br />

,Viktor Mayer-Schönberger’in<br />

“expiry date” önermesinden<br />

yola çıkarak dijital olarak<br />

kaydedilmiş bilginin bir son<br />

kullanma tarihi olup olmadığını<br />

ve aynı zamanda bu<br />

özel veya kamusal bilginin<br />

karar mekanizmasını sorgulayan<br />

bir mekan tasarımıdır.<br />

Buradaki interaktif mekanının<br />

kendine ait bir zaman<br />

parametresi ve belleği vardır.<br />

Yapmakta olduğu şey<br />

ise, ziyaretçilerinin gözüne<br />

sokmaksızın, onların bu mekandaki<br />

varlığını sayısal veri<br />

olarak sergi süresi boyunca<br />

belleğine kaydediyor olmasıdır.<br />

Sergi bittiğinde bu verilerin<br />

son kullanma tarihinin<br />

geldiği varsayımı üzerinden<br />

tüm ziyaretçi verilerini belleğinden<br />

silerek unutmayı<br />

amaçlamaktadır.<br />
