4.3. Depending on your environment, you might have one or more databases running.<br />

Once your database connections have been added, you can use the <strong>Data</strong> <strong>Studio</strong> web<br />

console to begin monitoring the health of these databases (Chapter 4). You can also<br />

create and schedule scripted jobs on these databases using the job manager (Chapter<br />

6).<br />

Note:<br />

This book is written <strong>with</strong> the assumption that you will use the default administrative user<br />

as the only user that will log in to the web console. To add additional users <strong>for</strong> the web<br />

console you must select a repository database, set up access to the repository database,<br />

and then grant log in privileges to the web console to the users of the repository<br />

database. For more in<strong>for</strong>mation about configuring <strong>Data</strong> <strong>Studio</strong> web console <strong>for</strong> multiple<br />

users, see the <strong>Getting</strong> <strong>Started</strong> part of the Task Launcher and also Appendix B.<br />

1.8 Exercises<br />

In this set of exercises, you will install <strong>Data</strong> <strong>Studio</strong>, get com<strong>for</strong>table using the<br />

workbench/Eclipse controls, and install the Sample Outdoor Company database.<br />

1. Install <strong>Data</strong> <strong>Studio</strong> following the instructions in this chapter.<br />

2. Spend some time getting com<strong>for</strong>table <strong>with</strong> the <strong>Data</strong> <strong>Studio</strong> workbench. For example,<br />

per<strong>for</strong>m some of the following tasks:<br />

• Change to the <strong>Data</strong> perspective.<br />

• Close the Outline view.<br />

• Minimize and maximize some of the view windows.<br />

• Find the menus <strong>for</strong> each of the views.<br />

• Reset the <strong>Data</strong> perspective to its default setting.<br />

3. Optionally, set up the Sample Outdoor Company database by using the instructions<br />
